i’ve come to wrap you up tight, ’til it’s time to break down.

March 25, 2008

from the pages of my paper journal

here is a list of things i don’t believe in:

binaries, the sole use of phonetics in teaching children, monotheism, monogamy, capitalism, the war on drugs, area 51, tax “relief”, alphabetical grades, busywork, bureacratics, war, the difficulty of citizenship exams, the concept of an “illegal” human being,  religion for the purposes of anything other than comfort, hell, heaven, the idea that “everyone has a purpose”, art within confines, lobbyists, middle-men in general, the punitive nature of the justice system and the resulting expectations of american citizens, pure communism, any kind of anarchy,  true selflessness, wastefulness, the criminalization of marijuana, the reduction of humans to dollar amounts, concrete thinking, true loves, best friends, great tragedies, prescriptive grammar, unlivable wages, doctors, western medicine in general, conservatism, the FCC, the DEA, the FDA, fur as fashion, the living conditions of livestock, a single truth, an honest retelling of a story, a non-biased history, the two-party system, the distribution of wealth, most mass-produced major label music, the unbearably unaffordable cost of higher education, required courses, the DCMA, the knowing production of unhealthy foods,  the nomenclature used to describe depression (mental disease) and mania (personality disorder),  the DSM,  privatized medicine,  “free trade” and the movement of espresso as an accessory and not an art form.

so stick that in your pipe and smoke it.

in other news…

you want my hands, heart and crown?

well, i’m an irish girl, so you damned well better believe i’ll deliver.

and if it’s not enough,

then maybe i’m not the problem.

you heard it here first…

…yup. i made the president’s list. IN COLLEGE.

so stick that in your pipe and smoke it.

in other news, radio was sub-par today. technically, not a great show. and there was no new music. BOO.

also, my job interview tonight got cancelled. the lady called me while i was working out and left me a message, telling me she’d already made her decision. i think that this is a bitch move. so, maybe better that i don’t work for that wench.

can you tell that the job market is a little tough?

i’m a damn good barista. fucking hire me.

but then zach came to get me with indi and it was all better.

because those two boys are the brightest stars in the universe.

thinking of coming home for president’s day weekend…i have like, potentially 5 days off.

i’ve been having weird eug-related dreams and need to go touch base, methinks.

p.s. president’s list. HOORAH.

i hated starbucks on principle before. the commodification of coffee as a status symbol is enough to make someone with even a passing respect for espresso cringe. sure, i’m a snob. but i’m also a damn good barista, and they have ruined sizes, flavors, and the expectations of the gen pop upon entering a cafe for the worst.

alright, i’ll get to the point.

i had to take my car in to get the tires re-alligned. so i sucked it up and walked down the block to starbucks, hoping to catch up on my emails, etc.

starbucks does not have free wireless. WOW. a company that makes that poor of quality products, turns a huge profit by charging five dollars for milk, and they STILL charge you to use their internet? fuck you, starbucks.

how am i blogging then, you ask?

i walked back to the schwab to enjoy some free coffee (holla) and spied a sign- free wireless!

moral of the story- starbucks = shit, schwab = awesome.

in other news, devil makes three was amazing. what a good show. and a good night. my friends tired early, and my mother recommended i go out again. so i did. and i needed to. got to spend some quality time with some lovely souls.

zachary is back in the states and i really can’t wait to see him. but i don’t know when my services here will no longer be needed, and i will pack the dog and head north once again.

as per usual, i am just too small to meet everyone’s needs.
